I have yet to have the privilege of being a union member, but am squarely on the side of the organized working man!

Zappa said it for me
This is a song about the union, friends
How they fucked you over and the way they bends
The rules to suit a special few
And you gets pooched every time they do

You know we gotta stick together... [rpt 4x}

Once upon a time the idea was good
If only they'd a done what they said they would
It ain't no better, they's makin' it worse

The labor movement's got the Mafia curse

You know we gotta stick together...[rpt 4x]

Don't be no fool, don't be no dope
Common sense is your only hope
When the union tells you it's time to strike
Tell the motherfucker to take a hike

You know we gotta stick together
(repeats)

...

But we all know Zappa was a Fascist, right?

(Could'a done without that Marx in the middle. Real unions are bottom-up, not top down. Fuck vanguards.)

Me, too, and I would have preferred Groucho to Karl (who never struck me as funny, and with whom I didn't agree), but I didn't put the piece together and therefore couldn't edit it, and the rest of it is so good.

There's also a killer song/collage vid based on Union Maid , with Sarah and Arlo Guthrie providing the soundtrack. The worst person featured in this one is John Edwards speaking at union rallies, which ain't so bad at all.

My own version of Union Maid.

This is the charity I'm on the board of, and every year people buy a kit of beads and have to use at least one of each color while making their item to donation for auction. I opened the kit in 2006 and saw pink and green and died. I knew everybody else would do flowers and I'm not much for following everybody. Then I remembered the lunchbox I got to make something from, and behold, Union Maid!

Now, your title made me start singing Well, Well, Well.

I've never had a job that had unions, but I shop at a union grocery store.
